Tour itinerary:
Subject to minor changes.
Day 1:
Arrive at Seattle's SEATAC airport only to leave the
busy city behind. Come find the cute town of Issaquah where we'll
meet and review riding guidelines and what the tour will hold – lots
of wonderful roads and scenery.
Day 2:
We travel from Issaquah to Winthrop today via the North Cascades
National Park. See how wonderful the secondary roads of Washington
can be.
Day 3:
We leave Winthrop to continue traveling north into Canada. We'll
clear several mountain passes that clear 4000 to 9000 feet, and appreciate
the clear air and scenery that Washington has to offer. We'll
watch carefully for the fresh berry stands along the way. The raspberries
were at high season last year and delicious – either right out of
the field or in the various baked goods that the restaurants had
for us
to sample.
Day 4:
British Columbia abounds with fantastic roads with little traffic,
and the traffic that we do see is incredibly polite and welcoming.
We'll travel to Revelstoke today, which will put us within easy
distance of Lake Louise tomorrow. Revelstoke is a great little city
with a wonderful railroad museum, cute downtown to walk in, and friendly
inhabitants who are always up for a conversation with us women motorcycle
enthusiasts.
Day 5:
Off from Revelstoke we'll travel through Glacier National
Park (Canada's not ours), and prepare ourselves for the even
prettier sights of Banff National Park. We'll stay at Lake Louise
for three nights to soak up all that this park has to offer. Today
we'll enjoy high tea at the Lake Louise Chateau.
Day 6:
Today we enjoy the lovely roads to take us to the Columbia Icefields.
Considered one of the fountains of youth, we'll take the tour
up onto the glacier, and taste the cold springs that run there.
Day 7:
is a rest day in Banff National Park. Use the day to explore
the town of Banff if you're a shopper, or canoe on Lake Louise,
or hike any of the wonderful hikes that available.
Day 8:
Say goodbye to the mountains for a while, and enjoy the grasslands
south of Banff. Each town has its own unique flair and story, and
they're all a joy to see. We'll stay in Pincher Creek tonight.
Day 9:
Across the border we go to enter Glacier National Park in Montana.
This is one of our nation's treasures, and we're sure
you'll enjoy taking pictures here. The road through the park
is beautiful, and we'll probably get a chance to see a bit of
snow – thankfully not where we'll be driving our motorcycles.
This park makes you feel a part of the scenery, rather than having
to view it from a distance.
Day 10:
sees us making our way across Montana and the skinny part of
Idaho to drop back into Washington. Keep your eyes peeled for more
wonderful pies and breads. We found a breakfast place with fantastic
beery pancakes last year. The roads continue to be lightly traveled,
perfectly surfaced, and with abundant photo opportunities.
Day 11:
We travel across northern Washington to enjoy the mountains
again, passing through the Okanogan National Forest, to finish our
day in Okanogan. We promise, you won't tire of the clean air
and forest's canopy.
Day 12:
All good things must come to an end. We'll arrive back
in Issaquah today after traveling through the North Cascades National
Park. What a lovely trip this is. We can't wait to share it
with you.
